The Division 3 was announced in 2023, but details have been scarce since.
Ubisoft’s Julian Gerighty, executive producer for The Division franchise, has provided an update on the highly anticipated third installment in the looter-shooter series, stating that the game will have “as big an impact” as The Division 1.

During the New Game+ Showcase, Gerighty confirmed that The Division 3 is still in development and that developer Massive Entertainment hopes that the title will be a major success like the franchise’s debut release, though no release date was revealed. "The Division 3 is in production, right? This is not a secret. It's been announced,” the producer said. “It's shaping up to be a monster. I can't really say anything more than that. But this is, within these walls in Massive, we are working extremely hard on something that I think will be as big an impact as Division 1 was."
The project was officially announced in 2023 through a press release that also confirmed Gerighty's appointment as executive producer for the Division franchise. Since then, Ubisoft has remained relatively silent about the game's development, with post-launch support for The Division 2 and the development of spin-off titles remaining a public focus.
Gerighty also reassured fans that The Division 3 will maintain the core pillars of the franchise, including a focus on online co-op gameplay, an in-game world based on real-world locations, and a heavy lean into RPG elements allowing for various gameplay styles.
