Ubisoft+ is now available on Xbox platforms

Ubisoft’s subscription service is finally available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S for $17.99 per month.

The details:

• Xbox has announced in a new press release that Ubisoft+, a subscription service that allows players to play a variety of Ubisoft titles for a monthly fee, is now available on both current and last generation Xbox consoles. The service will launch with 65 games, including complete versions of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Far Cry 6, and The Division 2 with DLC. This is not the entire library available through the service; on PC, you can access over 100 games.
• One thing to keep in mind is that the service is only available through its "multi access" plan, which allows subscribers to use the same account to play on Xbox, PC, and Amazon Luna. Since there is no Xbox-only option, those who want to join the service will have to pay $17.99 per month, which is more expensive than Xbox's Game Pass. Because it is limited to Ubisoft titles, some have questioned the service's value, with many saying that it will likely be a good investment only for those who want to play a specific game for less than full price, allowing them to "rent" the game by subscribing for a single month every now and then.
• Ubisoft+ was announced for Xbox in January 2022, with the company confirming that the service would be separate from Xbox's Game Pass. Since then, not much has been heard about the service, until the reliable leaker ScriptLeaksR6 took to Twitter, claiming that the service would include more than 60 games. Following that, it was mentioned in Microsoft's Rewards app on April 13, and the Ubisoft+ website was updated with an Xbox tab that was accessible to some, confirming that it was ready to launch on the platform at any time.

• The head of ID@Xbox, Chris Charla, has responded to comments made by several publishers and developers about the impact of Xbox Game Pass on sales and the industry as a whole, stating that the service is "additive," not "disruptive." Many people are concerned that the subscription model will reduce profits for smaller studios because many players will use it to access games rather than buy them, but Charla compared the situation to similar concerns about free-to-play games, which never surpassed the traditional sales model.
• Ubisoft has reportedly been taking legal action against known leakers over the past couple of months. The publisher has allegedly filed lawsuits against a Rainbow Six: Siege leaker, forcing the individual to delete all of their social media accounts that hosted the leaked information, such as Twitter, Discord, and Telegram.
• Ubisoft confirmed in March that it would not be attending the now-cancelled E3 and would instead hold its own event called "Ubisoft Forward Live" on June 12. According to a company spokesperson, the decision was made because the company wanted to "move in a different direction," though it is unclear whether it will return to E3 if future events are held.
