Ubisoft quietly announces The Division 3 will be developed by Massive Entertainment

Ubisoft has announced that Massive Entertainment is now working on a third game in the Division series, with Julian Gerighty serving as the project’s executive producer.

The details:

• The new title was made public in a press release alongside the announcement that Julian Gerighty, the current Creative Director on Star Wars Outlaws, will now serve as the Executive Producer on The Division after Outlaws is released. “As Executive Producer, Julian Gerighty will oversee all The Division games and products, including Tom Clancy’s The Division 3, led by Massive Entertainment who is actively building a team for the game,” said Ubisoft. “In his new role, Julian will drive the many interdependent production elements of The Division brand in a unified direction.”
• Other than the fact that Gerighty will not be building a development team for The Division 3 until after the release of Star Wars Outlaws, not much is known about the game. Outlaws is expected to be released in 2024, so fans will have to wait quite a while for more information about the game and even longer for its release.
• The existence of a third Division game isn't surprising given that both mainline titles have sold over 10 million units since their respective releases in 2016 and 2019. Ubisoft has also been working on franchise spin-offs, such as the free-to-play Heartland and the mobile title Resurgence, both of which are set to be released by the end of the first quarter of 2024.

• Mortal Kombat 1 director Ed Boon has stated that the game's disappointing Switch port will be updated to address many of its flaws. Following the release of the game, fans took to social media to share screenshots of the port's low-quality visuals and numerous bugs, labeling it a "robbery" with its $70 price tag.
