Super Mario Bros. Wonder is Europe’s fastest-selling Mario game in history
After only three days, Nintendo has revealed that Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the fastest-selling title in franchise history in Europe.
The details:
Following its October 20 release, Nintendo of Europe announced on X that Wonder has become the region's fastest-selling Mario game. “Wowie zowie! In its first three days on sale, Super Mario Bros. Wonder has become the fastest-selling Super Mario game ever in Europe,” the post reads. “A huge thanks to everyone who helped make this a wonderful launch.”
According to GamesIndustry.biz's Christopher Dring, the game's launch was the third-largest physical UK release for a Mario platformer in series history, trailing only Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario 3D All-Stars, and could be the franchise's biggest launch if digital sales are included. Dring also stated that the game's first-week sales were "significantly better" than those of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.
Wonder has been a huge hit with fans and critics alike, with some hailing it as one of the best Mario games of all time due to its blend of classic 2D Mario with numerous new visual details and gameplay additions to give the game a distinct identity. Although sales figures for the rest of the world are not yet available, it would not be surprising if it has achieved similar commercial success elsewhere.
