According to internal sources, Toys for Bob, a former Activision subsidiary that recently went independent, has struck a deal with Microsoft for its next game.

The details:

  • As reported by Windows Central's Jez Corden, the studio's previously teased partnership with Microsoft has been finalized, with Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty confirming the agreement during a recent town hall meeting.

  • According to sources, Xbox employees inquired about what would happen with Toys for Bob following the studio's departure from Activision last month, with the executive stating that the deal was finalized and that the project would be "similar to games Toys for Bob has made in the past." It is currently unknown whether or not the game will be a new IP.

  • Toys for Bob is best known for its contributions to Activision's Crash Bandicoot and Spyro franchises, having led the development of Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash 4 and co-developing the Skylanders series. Its most recent release, Crash Team Rumble, received mixed reviews when it launched last year.
