Mobile title Assassin's Creed Jade reportedly delayed to 2025
It has been claimed that internal changes at Tencent have caused Assassin's Creed Jade, an upcoming mobile title in Ubisoft's long-running series, to be delayed until next year.
The details:
As reported by Reuters, Tencent has redeployed hundreds of employees from the AC Jade team to its new party game, DreamStar, which competes with Eggy Party, a similar title developed by rival NetEase. This has resulted in a delay, with the game now scheduled for release in 2025.
The delay is part of Tencent's strategic shift away from working on Western franchises, which have significantly lower profit margins than domestic Chinese releases, which have been a focus of its competitors.
AC Jade is the first full Assassin’s Creed experience on mobile featuring an open world, which is being developed by Tencent in collaboration with Ubisoft. Set in ancient China, the game has been in the works for years, with a closed beta held in August 2023 for iOS and Android users.
