Sony has raised the price of the PS5 in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand

Sony has announced that it will raise the price of the PS5 Digital Edition for the second time in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, though the disc drive add-on is now less expensive.
The details:
The Japanese tech giant confirmed that the Digital Edition of the console will now retail for €499.99, up from €449.99 in Mainland Europe, and £429.99, up from £389.99 in the UK, effective immediately. On the other side of the world, Australia and New Zealand will see a price increase for both Standard and Digital PS5 systems, with AUD $829.95/NZD $949.95 and AUD $749.95/NZD $859.95, respectively.
However, the PS5's detachable disc drive accessory, introduced with the console's "Slim" refresh last year, has seen a price reduction across the aforementioned regions down to €79.99/£69.99/AUD $124.95/NZD $139.95.
In the blog post about the price change, SIE vice president of global marketing Isabelle Tomatis claimed that the decision was made due to a "challenging economic environment, including high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates." This is the second time Sony has raised the console's price in Europe since its launch, citing the state of the economy in 2022, with similar increases made in North America and Japan in recent years.
