Sony is raising PlayStation 5 hardware prices yet again, this time impacting South Korea and various countries in Southeast Asia, with new recommended retail prices taking effect from May 1, 2026.

The details:

  • As announced this week, the price of the PS5 Digital Edition will jump from 598,000 KRW to 858,000 KRW in South Korea, an increase of around 43 percent. Meanwhile, the standard PS5 climbs from 748,000 KRW to 948,000 KRW, and the PS5 Pro goes from 1.118 million KRW to 1.298 million KRW.
  • New prices are also coming into effect in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, with hikes applying to all PS5 consoles as well as the PlayStation Portal. In Singapore, the standard PS5 will be $849 SGD, the Digital Edition $764, and the PS5 Pro $1,167, while the Portal rises to $347.
  • Sony says the latest round of increases is due to “continued pressures in the global economic landscape,” which is similar reasoning to what was provided when it raised the price of the PS5 across the US, UK, Europe, and Japan earlier this year. This follows global hardware shortages where the growing use of AI technology has led to a lack of memory and storage for all manufacturers.
