Sony claims its Knights of the Old Republic remake trailer was delisted due to music licensing issues

After fans noticed that the reveal trailer for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake had been made private, Sony responded by stating that the video was simply removed due to the license to the music used expiring.

The details:

• Last week, fans noticed that the trailer for the upcoming KOTOR remake had been removed from PlayStation's YouTube channel without explanation. It was later discovered that several tweets referencing the game had also been deleted by PlayStation, leaving only a handful that also mentioned other titles. This led many to believe the project had been canceled, with reports of development issues dating back to 2021 used to back up the claim.
• The abrupt removal of content related to the remake prompted journalist Stephen Totilo to contact Star Wars IP holder Disney, who then passed Totilo on to Sony, causing the company to issue a statement. “As part of normal business, we delist assets with licensed music when the licenses expire,” a Sony spokesperson said.
• Sony’s response has caused even more confusion as it's unclear why music for an upcoming game would expire, especially since the same track has previously been used in Star Wars films and other trailers that are still available on PlayStation's channel.
• According to various sources and reports over the years, the remake of KOTOR has had a difficult development. Originally, it was announced that Aspyr Media would be leading development on the project, but it was later claimed that the studio had moved away from the project and passed it to parent company Saber Interactive, which had been confirmed to be assisting in development back in 2021.
