PlayStation's tweet announcing the remake of the classic RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has seemingly been deleted, and the game's reveal trailer has also been made private on the company's official YouTube channel.

The details:

  • X user @Crusader3456 shared their findings, confirming that the original tweet announcing the remake has been removed, with a Google search for "Knights of the Old Republic twitter.com/playstation" still returning a link to the now-deleted tweet. Its existence can also be verified by the Internet Archive, which has multiple snapshots of the page up to 2022.
  • It was also discovered that PlayStation has made the game's 2021 reveal trailer private, making it completely unavailable to the public on its YouTube channel. The trailer is still available in the PlayStation 2021 Showcase, but the private upload has broken the embed of the video on the PlayStation blog post about the game.
  • It's unclear why Sony has begun removing references to the remake's announcement, but this has led fans to believe that the project has been canceled. Aspyr Media, the project's developer, was acquired by Embracer Group in 2021, and with Embracer currently undergoing a restructuring program due to the failure of a $2 billion partnership, the game or the studio itself may have been impacted.
  • The game's development appears to have been rocky, with rumors of Aspyr leaving the project in 2022, Saber Interactive taking over development entirely, and Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors refusing to comment on the title's current status in an investor meeting earlier this year.
