Saber Interactive has once again reassured fans that its Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is still in development, despite several rumors about its cancellation.

The details:

  • Speaking with IGN, Saber chief creative officer Tim Willits briefly confirmed that the project is still in the works despite prolonged silence surrounding its current status in recent years. “Yes, it is still in development,” he said. “That's all I can say.”
  • This much-needed update follows a report back in December 2025 from Game File, where it was said that Aspyr, the developer behind the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection, was no longer involved in the project. Instead, Hellraiser: Revival studio Mad Head Games is now leading development on the game.
  • Originally announced in 2021, development of the KOTOR remake has been rocky, with reports in 2022 stating that the project was in “serious trouble" before it was later indefinitely delayed. The game’s release was once again put in doubt after Saber split from Embracer Group in 2024, taking the project with it.
