Starfield composer says players “were just not ready” for the game
Bethesda

Long-time Bethesda collaborator and veteran composer Inon Zur believes that players simply weren’t ready for Starfield and insists that studio boss Todd Howard will stick to his original vision rather than overhaul the entire game following player reviews.

The details:

  • Speaking in a recent interview with RPGsite, Zur said he felt “people were just not ready” for Starfield when it arrived in 2023, describing Howard as a “visionary” who set out to create something new compared to past Bethesda titles. "Todd is one of, if not the most, creative and invigorating human beings in the industry," Zur said. "He just doesn't stop. He always has new ideas. He always knows what he wants. He is very persuasive and has a very strong character. He will also find ways to describe what he wants without really calling it a name. He knows how to allow freedom of creativity on one hand but also how to steer it to his own vision. He is a visionary. He sees things that people will start to find out years later."
  • Howard has separately teased that “a lot of Starfield content” is in development and will be shown “really soon,” but warned players to not expect a major overhaul of the game. This comes ahead of a possible PS5 release of the game, which is reportedly set to arrive in April.
  • While Starfield struggled to match the critical and commercial heights of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout at launch, Bethesda has continued to build on it with the Shattered Space expansion and further updates and invited dedicated fans to preview upcoming content late last year.
