Saber Interactive CEO says Knights of the Old Republic's remake is "alive and well"
Saber Interactive's CEO, Matthew Karch, has confirmed that the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is still in development, despite rumors of its cancellation.
The details:
In an interview with IGN, Karch provided an update on the game's progress following Saber's departure from Embracer Group last month. “It’s clear and it’s obvious that we’re working on this,” Karch said. “It’s been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we’re dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations.”
Since its announcement in 2021, reports of its rough development have surfaced, with Aspyr Media, its original developer, reportedly handing over the project to Saber. It was then claimed that development had completely ceased, which was supported by Sony's removal of promotional material from its official channels, though it was later revealed that a smaller team was still working on the title.
After Embracer parted ways with the publisher, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported that KOTOR was "going with Saber." This may not entirely be the case, as Embracer stated that it still had "two joint projects with the buyer," including "a previously announced AAA game based on a major license," implying that KOTOR could still be one of the projects.
