Rocksteady reportedly lays off staff after Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s weak commercial performance
Former employees at Rocksteady have revealed that the developer has made significant job cuts following the poor sales of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, including laying off more than half of its QA team.
The details:
Speaking with Eurogamer, multiple sources shared details about the studio's cuts, which have affected various departments, including its QA team, which has been reduced to 15 members from 33. An anonymous worker added that the loss of QA employees, including some with specialized knowledge, has left the remaining team members with even more work.
According to Eurogamer, another employee in another team posted on social media that they were informed that they would be laid off while on paternity leave. Many of the layoffs are said to have impacted junior-level employees, but some had worked for the company for more than five years.
The sources confirmed that the poor commercial performance of Kill the Justice League was cited as a main reason for layoffs. The game was released earlier this year after several delays and received mixed reviews, with Warner Bros. Discovery citing low sales as a major contributor to a 41% decline in Q1 gaming revenue.
