Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 raises over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation

The annual charity fundraising speedrun event Awesome Games Done Quick has concluded after a week, raising an impressive total of over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
The details:
The week-long event, held from January 5 to 12, featured over 130 speedruns that drew "tens of thousands" of Twitch viewers and over 2,000 in-person attendees. This year's AGDQ concluded on Sunday with a four-person race through the SNES classic Super Metroid, with a total of $2,556,305 raised for charity.
The event featured both new and old titles, including Pikmin, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Metroid Prime, and Astro Bot, as well as some unusual runs, such as defeating Elden Ring's bosses with a saxophone.
Runners also offered incentives to encourage donations, such as imposing in-game restrictions or assigning additional tasks during their runs. Some of the incentives were more unique, such as playing Crazy Taxi with a live band performing the game's iconic soundtrack to avoid copyright issues and speedrunner Xem treating viewers to an opera performance after finishing Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando.
As shared by Reddit user Thorebane, GDQ has officially raised more than $54 million in its 15-year history, with $26 million supporting the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This total includes funds raised by AGDQ and its sister event, Summer Games Done Quick. SGDQ is set to take place from July 6 to July 12 and will include much of the same mix of crazy and laidback speedrunning as AGDQ.
