Dragon Age: The Veilguard director confirms departure from BioWare after receiving an offer she "couldn’t turn down"

Dragon Age: The Veilguard game director Corine Busche has announced that she is leaving EA after 18 years to pursue an opportunity she “couldn't turn down."
The details:
As originally reported by Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb and later confirmed in a statement to Eurogamer, Busche has left BioWare just months after the October release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. “At the heart of it, this was about my own fulfillment. I did what I set out to do at BioWare. That is to come in and help right the ship,” she said in a statement. “I love Dragon Age and BioWare, so the chance to return the game to a proper quality single-player RPG was the privilege of a lifetime.”
Busche went on to say that the creation of The Veilguard "took a toll on me" and that, while BioWare "still has a lot of work to do culturally," it is on the right track. The game's development was repeatedly delayed and rebooted over the last decade until Busche began collaborating with creative director John Epler to bring it to completion back in 2022.
The director confirmed that her departure was voluntary and that she had received an offer that she "couldn't turn down." While Busche has declined to discuss the project, she has stated that she will remain in the "CRPG space." During her 18 years at EA, she worked as a designer on several Sims games, including The Sims 3 and 4.
The Veilguard was released on October 31, and despite receiving positive reviews and performing well commercially, it was announced that no DLC content would be released. BioWare is now working on the next Mass Effect game, which will kick off a new story set in the Milky Way following the events of the original trilogy.
