FuturLab has announced that the follow-up to 2022's relaxing hit PowerWash Simulator will be released later this year for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, but no Nintendo Switch version is currently planned.

The details:

  • A new trailer for the game shows off its updated cleaning goodness, with the game confirmed to include an all-new campaign, two-player local split-screen multiplayer, and even four-player online co-op with shared progression between players.

  • As for new mechanics, PWS2 will include a new soaping system that allows players to soak an area in soap to remove dirt much more easily in larger areas. You'll also be able to display collectibles and spend your hard-earned money to decorate the new PowerWash Services headquarters. “PowerWash Simulator 2 feels like a natural evolution from its predecessor,” said design director Dan Chequer. “The original game’s design was all about eliminating anything that detracted from the pure satisfaction of taking something dirty and making it clean. PowerWash Simulator 2 is all about adding in even more avenues for players to achieve that same sense of satisfaction, with new tools, features, and quality of life improvements.”

  • So far, we've seen only a few of its levels, which include a motel, parade float, gas station, tram, and a strange teapot-shaped house. The game takes place after the bizarre events of its predecessor, with the player returning to the town of Muckingham and its new surroundings, which means some locations may return with even more grime to clean up.

  • The game's release date has yet to be announced, but it is confirmed that it will arrive later this year. It will be available on PC via Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Despite some initial confusion, FuturLab has confirmed that no version of the game for the Nintendo Switch 2 is currently in its plans, though the company would "like" to release it on the system. This could change soon, as Nintendo plans to fully reveal the console on April 2.
