Firewalk Studios has announced that Concord will be shutting down just two weeks after a weak launch, with all players receiving full refunds.

The details:

  • Concord was released on August 23 and, despite mixed reviews, failed to make any sort of impact, peaking at less than 700 concurrent players on Steam at launch. The game's PC and PS5 versions were estimated to have sold fewer than 25,000 units combined, raising the question of whether it would drop the widely criticized $40 price tag and become a free-to-play title.

  • Firewalk has announced that it has pulled Concord from sale and plans to close its servers on September 6 as it acknowledged that the game’s “initial launch didn’t land the way we’d intended.” Those who purchased the game digitally will receive refunds in the coming days, while players with physical copies can return them to retailers.

  • Now, the developer says it will "explore options, including those that will better reach our players," implying that Concord may return in the future. As its development took over eight years and reportedly cost more than $100 million, Sony may not want to abandon the title entirely and could be planning a free-to-play re-release similar to its main competitor, Overwatch.
