CD PROJEKT has confirmed that over three-quarters of all Cyberpunk 2077 sales on the Nintendo Switch 2 were physical copies.

The details:

  • The company shared sales information during its latest financial report. While it did not reveal exact sales numbers, it did confirm that only 24.6% of Cyberpunk’s sales on the Switch 2 were digital, with the remaining 75.4% made up of physical copies.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the few major third-party titles to release alongside the console and was a massive hit among fans. Many praised CDPR’s ability to make the game playable on the less powerful handheld system and for ensuring that the full game alongside its Phantom Liberty expansion was contained on a traditional cartridge as opposed to the download-only “game-key card” format. “Among the core aspects of our strategy is the ability to offer our products to a broad audience while retaining top quality,” co-CEO Michał Nowakowski said. “For that reason, we’re particularly glad that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition was released on Nintendo Switch 2 on the day of its global launch and that it continues to rank among the best-selling third-party titles on that platform.”
  • Despite Cyberpunk’s solid commercial performance on the Switch 2, it was reported that other third-party releases haven’t fared too well, with publishers reportedly deeming their ports to have “flopped” on the console. Most of the games sold on the system during its first month on sale were first-party releases, with the exclusive Mario Kart World leading the charts, followed by upgraded ports of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
