Nintendo has announced that beginning June 10, Switch players will no longer be able to upload content to X (formerly Twitter), following the lead of PlayStation and Xbox.

The details:

  • As outlined in a new blog post, starting June 10, Switch systems will no longer be able to upload screenshots and videos to X via the Album, nor will users be able to send friend requests through the Friend Suggestions feature. Splatoon 2 and 3 players will also be unable to share content via the mailboxes located in the in-game hubs.

  • Nintendo notes that users will still be able to post to Facebook, but the feature may be removed in the future. To post to X, players can transfer images and videos to a PC via USB or download content using the Switch mobile app, then create posts through the platform itself.

  • After a significant increase in API costs following Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter, both Xbox and PlayStation removed X integration from their consoles last year. Both consoles still support sharing to other platforms, including YouTube, and content can be transferred to storage and mobile devices using the same methods as the Switch.
