Update 24/06//2025:
Build a Rocket Boy has confirmed that the redundancy process has begun at the studio in a statement provided to IGN. "We can confirm that we have had to make the painful decision to notify our hardworking team of some internal changes at Build A Rocket Boy," the studio said. "While we are working to reassign roles for as many of those impacted by these changes as possible, sadly we are initiating a formal consultation process that may result in redundancies. This decision has not been made lightly, and we are committed to handling this process with transparency, fairness, and respect for all employees. We will provide further details to the team over the coming weeks."

Edinburgh-based developer Build a Rocket Boy, the studio behind the critically panned action-adventure title MindsEye, is reportedly preparing for layoffs that could affect over 100 employees.
The details:
According to a new report from IGN, anonymous sources at the studio have disclosed that staff have been informed of the layoffs as it begins a legally required 45-day consultation process. It’s currently unknown how many employees will be affected by the cuts, but it is noted that the 45-day process is only required if a company plans to let go of 100 or more employees within a 90-day period.
Build a Rocket Boy currently consists of roughly 300 UK-based employees, with an additional 200 working remotely around the globe. It’s also unknown if the company will continue its plans to release post-launch content and much-needed fixes for its debut title, MindsEye, which was released earlier this month.
Following MindsEye’s release, the game was criticized by both players and critics due to its multitude of major bugs and other technical issues, including a memory leak that led to frequent crashes on consoles. The developer, founded by Grand Theft Auto V producer Leslie Benzies, later said it was “heartbroken” and would launch several patches addressing its biggest issues. However, it’s unlikely that its gameplay and story will see much improvement, as both were also met with poor reviews.
