Playground Games associate game director Will Kennedy has confirmed that Fable's main quest will take around 15 to 20 hours to complete, with a similar amount of content in side quests and open-world exploration. Beyond the story, the game's life sim systems are designed to be played indefinitely.

The details:

  • Speaking at during a Q&A panel at Gamescom (via Polygon), Kennedy said: "We have around 15-20 hours of mainline quest gameplay, we have around 15-20 of side and open-world exploration content gameplay." The life systems, which include marriage, family, property ownership, and NPC relationships, have no defined endpoint.
  • The runtime makes Fable the longest main quest in the series to date. The original 2004 game, Fable II, and Fable III each clock in at roughly 12 to 14 hours for the main story.
  • Fable launches February 23, 2027 on Xbox Series X|S and PC as a day one Game Pass title. Players can purchase up to 130 homes and 30 businesses across Bowerstone, with all 400 NPCs in the city fully voiced and persistent.
