Konami has announced that “Fox Hunt,” the multiplayer mode for its upcoming Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake, will not feature crossplay support, keeping players locked to playing with others using the same platform.

The details:

  • Earlier this year, Konami announced Fox Hunt, an all-new multiplayer mode for MGS Delta, replacing Metal Gear Online from the original game. Despite the single-player side of the remake arriving on August 28, the publisher confirmed last week that Fox Hunt will be delayed to Fall 2025.
  • However, not everything has gone smoothly, as Konami has now shared that crossplay will not be offered with the mode in a new post to the Japanese Metal Gear X account. “Regarding the online multiplayer mode "FOX HUNT" for METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER, cross-play between different platforms will not be supported,” the translated post reads.
  • Understandably, fans are not happy with the lack of the feature given its inclusion in most modern multiplayer titles, allowing friends on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC to play with each other. “Delay FOX HUNT as much as you need, but do not launch it without crossplay,” one fan replied. “Otherwise, it will be dead on arrival. That's the bare minimum in 2025.”
  • Longtime series designer Yu Sahara is overseeing development of Fox Hunt, which has been described as a “completely original” and “unique” experience with a focus on the franchise’s stealth and survival gameplay.
