Arrowhead's hit multiplayer shooter Helldivers 2 is finally coming to Xbox Series X/S on August 26, and its launch trailer hinted at a highly anticipated collaboration with Microsoft's Halo series.

The details:

  • As announced last month, Helldivers 2 is coming to Xbox after a year of PC and PlayStation exclusivity, marking the first time a PlayStation-published title will be available on the rival platform. The game will also support full cross-platform multiplayer.
  • Arrowhead appears to be hinting at a collaboration with Halo near the end of a new trailer promoting the upcoming release. In the short clip, what appears to be an ODST-style drop pod crashes into the empty streets of a city on a rainy night. The scene is also accompanied by music featuring a saxophone, similar to the soundtrack for Bungie's 2009 spin-off Halo 3: ODST.
  • A Halo collab has been a popular request among Helldivers fans due to the many similarities between the soldiers in both franchises, such as both Helldivers and ODSTs being deployed from orbit. Fans have also pointed out that director Johan Pilestadt previously shared an image on Reddit, drawing a line right behind Master Chief, while ODST was still viewed as a possible crossover.
