Sony has announced that LittleBigPlanet 3 and all LittleBigPlanet DLC content will be removed from the PlayStation Store at the end of October, following the indefinite server shutdown earlier this year.

The details:

  • A message posted to the franchise's official X account confirmed that the game will no longer be available for purchase beginning October 31, 2024. Those who purchased the title or owned it through PlayStation Plus before its delisting will still be able to download and play it after this point.

  • The statement also states that the "entire range" of LittleBigPlanet DLC will be delisted, but as with LittleBigPlanet 3, players can still purchase the content before October 31 and access it at any time.

  • LittleBigPlanet’s original developer, Media Molecule, commented on the news, expressing its gratitude for the community and the games themselves. “LittleBigPlanet shaped us as a studio & remains an important part of who we are,” the studio wrote. “We are & always will be forever grateful for it & the incredible community it has inspired.”

  • LittleBigPlanet 3's online servers were initially taken down in January due to "technical issues," before being announced that they would be unavailable indefinitely in April. This meant that over a decade's worth of user-generated content, the series' main selling point, was no longer available unless it was saved locally on a PS4. The servers for the earlier PS3 entries were taken offline in 2021, leaving the franchise's mainline releases without online functionality.
