IO Interactive has officially unveiled 007: First Light, its upcoming James Bond game that covers the iconic secret agent's origin story.

The details:

  • The announcement trailer, which debuted during PlayStation's State of Play on Wednesday, features a 26-year-old Bond, alongside plenty of girls, intense moments, and nods to iconic lines and habits from the long-running franchise. In the short gameplay clips, we see some stealth gameplay similar to that of IO's Hitman, as well as some classic 007 action complete with guns, explosions, and high-tech gadgets.

  • In an accompanying blog post, IO shared that the standalone story begins with Bond's time as a NAVY air crewman, but "an audacious act of bravery" earns him a place in MI6's training program. Throughout the game, players will travel the world and meet franchise regulars such as M, Q, and Moneypenny, as well as Bond's mentor Greenway.

  • 007: First Light is currently scheduled for a 2026 release date, with the PS5 version being optimized for the PS5 Pro using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) and enhanced performance. More details about the game will be revealed later this week at IO's first-ever showcase.
