Insomniac's Wolverine creative director is now leading Xbox's Perfect Dark reboot
Brian Horton, the former creative director of Insomniac Games' Wolverine, has been named the new creative director of Xbox's Perfect Dark reboot, following his departure from PlayStation this summer.
The details:
As reported by Game File, Horton left the Wolverine project sometime during the summer after joining as creative director in 2021. Marcus Smith has since taken over the role, along with game director Mike Daly, who had previously worked with each other in similar roles on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
According to sources, the leadership change was "the result of creative decisions around the game," and Wolverine's previous game director, Cameron Christian, is now working in a new, unspecified position at Insomniac.
Horton has since moved on to Xbox, where he has joined the team working on the Perfect Dark reboot as creative director. An Xbox representative confirmed Horton's addition to the team in a statement to Game File, adding that he will be "bringing his wealth of experience to the upcoming reboot of the classic secret agent series."
Perfect Dark is being co-developed by the Microsoft-owned The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics, best known for its Tomb Raider reboot series, which Horton had previously worked on. It was reported that the game was in “a very rough state” just a month before its summer gameplay reveal, with its development team said to be "trying hard to push a boulder up a steep hill."
