Helldivers 2 is officially coming to Xbox later this year with full crossplay support

Arrowhead Game Studios’ hit multiplayer shooter Helldivers 2 is finally coming to Xbox Series X/S in August and will be the first Sony-published title to arrive on the platform.
The details:
-
In a recent livestream, it was announced that the game will be arriving on Xbox on August 26, with pre-orders available right now on the Xbox Store. It will also feature full crossplay support with both PS5 and PC. “We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game,” game director Mikael Eriksson said in an accompanying press release. “We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.”
Helldivers 2 will be the first game ever to be published by Sony on an Xbox console and is part of its ongoing plans to bring more of its multiplayer live service releases to non-PlayStation platforms. For example, another major franchise, MLB: The Show, is published by Sony on PlayStation but is published by MLB on other platforms.
-
The news of an Xbox port comes shortly after Sony quietly removed region restrictions from the PC version of the game, which became inaccessible in territories where PlayStation Network does not operate. While the PSN account requirement was quickly reversed after backlash, the game still remained inaccessible for many.
- Dying Light developer Techland has reportedly cancelled two undisclosed projects.
- Microsoft has closed Perfect Dark reboot studio The Initiative and has scrapped the project.
