Epic sues Fortnite player for selling stolen accounts

Epic Games has filed a lawsuit against a Fortnite player who is accused of stealing other players' accounts and selling them for "thousands of dollars".
The details:
In a lawsuit filed on February 27 and later shared in a new blog post, Epic accuses Illinois resident Isaac "i5aac" Strock of fraud, copyright infringement, and unjust enrichment. According to the company, Strock used "illicit means" to obtain Epic Games account usernames and passwords, as well as the passwords to their associated email addresses, which he then sold to the highest bidder.
Strock is also accused of selling guides on how to trick Epic's support channels into disclosing sensitive information, allowing others to steal accounts. Itβs claimed that Strock has made "thousands of dollars in profits" by selling "hundreds" of accounts and guides, with accounts sometimes selling for over $1,000.
Epic explains that Strock targets accounts that hold large amounts of Fortnite's in-game currency, V-Bucks, as well as highly sought-after cosmetics. Access to the accounts was gained through a combination of using information obtained from dark web data breaches and tricking Epic support into allowing log-in information to be changed.
The developer is now seeking compensation for damages caused by Strock, explaining that his actions have caused problems not only for players, but also for the company, which has "spent substantial resources investigating and working to prevent Strock's conduct."
