EA has announced that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Battlefield 3, 4, and Hardline will be removed from their respective digital storefronts at the end of July.

The details:

  • In a post to X, the publisher confirmed that the games and their DLCs will be removed on July 31. The decision came ahead of their servers' shutdown on November 7, 2024, and will also coincide with the Xbox 360 Marketplace's shutdown on July 29.

  • EA also clarified that the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Battlefield 4 and Hardline will remain playable on the original consoles and via backwards compatibility, as will the PC versions of each game. Those who own the games, whether digitally or physically, will continue to have access to the single-player campaigns on the affected platforms.

  • The online services for Battlefield 1943 and both Bad Company titles were shut down last year, and all three games were removed from all official digital storefronts. Fans voiced their frustrations as recent franchise entries have been compared negatively to the "golden era" of Battlefield, while others acknowledged that the playerbases of older games are likely too small for EA to invest resources in their servers.
