Following the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft has made it clear that it has big plans for the future, aiming to increase its output starting in 2024.

Following the Xbox showcase and Starfield Direct, Xbox leadership held a panel titled "What's Next for Gaming?" discussing the company's future strategy. When asked about the company's first-party game lineup, Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty responded that, while it "had some gaps last year," it would be ramping up its output to release "at least four games a year.”
Booty stated that next year will be when everything "really kicks into gear" for Xbox titles, with Avowed and Hellblade 2 receiving 2024 release dates during the showcase. With the release of some of its most anticipated games, Starfield and Forza Motorsport, Xbox will begin its positive change in the second half of 2023. Following PlayStation's success with exclusives over the years, it appears that the plan is what Microsoft requires to entice gamers back to its platform.
One of the most significant obstacles to the company's goal is the possibility of delays, which many studios have encountered in recent years as games have grown in size, causing development issues combined with fan pressure to deliver a high-quality product. Redfall is an example of a situation in which, despite a delay, its developers fell short of expectations.
