Bluepoint Games has confirmed that it is still working on a new title for PlayStation over three years after Sony acquired the studio.

The details:

  • Following the critically acclaimed release of Bluepoint's remake of Demon Souls as a PS5 launch title, Sony announced it had acquired the developer in September 2021. Studio president Marco Thrush stated that it would focus on "original content" and that, while he couldn't reveal much about the project, it would be the "next step in the evolution" for the company.

  • The developer has been quiet about the project until this week, when Bluepoint head of technology Peter Dalton responded to a fan's question about the title's current status on X, confirming that it is still in the works. "Nothing has changed since our statement that we are working on an original title,” Dalton wrote. “Everything takes time. We are committed to sharpening our skills!”

  • While we still know very little about the project, it's reassuring to hear that it's in the works, as a number of projects, including some under Sony, have been canceled this year, following layoffs and closures. Given that Bluepoint's most popular releases in recent years have been remakes and remasters of Gravity Rush, Demon Souls, and Shadow of the Colossus, some fans were worried that development may have been halted.
