Cancelled Twisted Metal reboot was a battle royale with third-person shooting, former developer reveals

New screenshots have been released of the now-cancelled Twisted Metal reboot, which was in development at PlayStation's Firesprite until last year, with a developer confirming that it would be a battle royale game with third-person shooter elements.
The details:
Back in 2022, it was reported that UK-based studio Firesprite was working on a reboot of the beloved vehicular combat franchise after Lucid Games handed over the project. Not much was revealed about the title, but Sony was reportedly planning to release it alongside the Twisted Metal TV adaptation in 2023.
As reported by MP1st, a former Firesprite UI programmer has revealed new information about the reboot, which was internally codenamed "Project Copper". The developer's website describes the game as a "3rd person vehicular action combat game based on a classic IP owned by PlayStation," which involved "third person shooter mechanics wrapped with third person vehicle combat with the objective of being the last one standing,"
The developer has also shared screenshots of the game, which are heavily edited but still show the HUD, early levels, and third-person shooter gameplay. Based on the screenshots, it appears that players were able to form three-person teams, with what appears to be three health bars present on the left side of the screen.
Twisted Metal was canceled last year, along with several other live service projects in development at PlayStation. The company's decision to scrap many of the titles associated with its ambitious live service plans resulted in many layoffs, with Firewalk Studios shutting its doors after the failure of Concord.
