Banjo-Kazooie successor Yooka-Laylee will receive a remaster for current-gen consoles
Playtonic has announced that Yooka-Laylee, its 2017 collectathon platformer, will be released on current-generation systems as Yooka-Replaylee, with several technical and gameplay enhancements.
The details:
The cleverly titled Yooka-Replaylee will feature updated art and animations, "enhanced performance," new accessibility options, and a reworked orchestral version of its soundtrack. Updates to the game’s camera and movement controls are being implemented too, addressing two of the biggest complaints about the original release.
Playtonic is also introducing new content to the game, such as collectible coins, which can be spent at Vendi, a vending machine that sells game modifiers known as Tonics. Multiple Tonics can now be applied simultaneously, and new Tonics are being implemented. A world map, new and modified challenges, and a challenge tracker will also be added.
Yooka-Replaylee’s release date has not been revealed as of yet, but Playtonic is planning to hold a Q&A session about the remaster on its YouTube channel on June 11.
