Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members are now able to stream select games from their own library
Subscribers to Xbox Game Pass' Ultimate tier can now use Xbox Cloud Gaming to stream a "select" 50 titles from their own library, even if the game is not included in the subscription service.
The details:
Following last month's rumors, Microsoft has officially announced that Xbox's cloud streaming service will now support both owned titles and the Game Pass catalog. Users can currently stream a total of 50 games via browsers on PC, mobile phones, tablets, smart TVs, handheld devices, and other devices as long as a compatible Xbox controller is connected. However, Xbox console and PC app support is currently unavailable and will be added next year.
The current list of 50 games includes major releases like Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy XIV, The Witcher 3, and 2022's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, as well as indie titles such as Balatro, Dredge, and The Plucky Squire. Microsoft says it plans to expand the limited catalog in the near future as it works with more publishers and developers.
The feature arrives just one day after PlayStation updated its Portal handheld to support its PS Plus Premium cloud streaming service, allowing the system to be used without a PS5 console. Until today's announcement, both companies had limited cloud gaming to a selected group of games available through their respective subscription services, with previous reports claiming that issues with supporting thousands of games had prevented full library support.
