Xbox and Discord tease new Game Pass collaboration following price drop

Microsoft is teasing a new partnership between Xbox and Discord tied to the former’s Game Pass service, suggesting that it could be included in Discord’s Nitro subscription.

The details:

  • In a post to X, new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed that Xbox and Discord are “teaming up again” as part of efforts to make Game Pass “more flexible” for players, with more details coming soon. "For years, Xbox and Discord have worked together to make it easier for players to connect, chat, and play across devices," Sharma wrote. "We're teaming up again as we continue to make Game Pass more flexible for our players. Some of you might start to see some code in the wild, and we will share more details with you all soon!"
  • Discord then shared the post alongside a graphic featuring both its own logo and that of Game Pass. However, the chat platform did not reveal any further details about the collaboration.
  • The announcement comes just days after Microsoft lowered the price of Game Pass Ultimate as it removed Call of Duty from its day-one release line-up. As a result, fans believe that Game Pass could now grant some form of Discord Nitro access, which provides various benefits such as profile customization and the ability to upload larger files via Discord.
  • The two companies have worked together in the past, with trials for Nitro being offered to new subscribers. It’s also worth noting that Discord offers a cheaper Nitro Basic subscription with fewer benefits that could tie nicely into Xbox’s existing integration.
