Xbox Game Pass sees a price increase and will not offer day-one titles for its standard tier
Microsoft has announced that the price of Xbox Game Pass will increase across all tiers and that subscribers to the standard tier will be unable to access day one releases.
The details:
According to Microsoft, Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass will increase to $19.99 and $11.99 monthly, respectively, on July 10. These price changes are effective immediately for new subscribers and will take effect on the next billing cycle for current subscribers.
Game Pass for Console will also be discontinued and replaced by a new $14.99 monthly tier called Xbox Game Pass Standard. The tier will include online play and the existing Game Pass catalog, but not cloud gaming or future day-one releases. Users will also be unable to stack subscriptions beyond 13 months, and if their membership expires without automatic renewal enabled, they will be forced to subscribe to a different tier.
Game Pass Core, the replacement for Xbox Live Gold, will also see an annual price increase to $74.99, up from $59.99, but will remain at $9.99 monthly.
This is the second time Microsoft has raised the service's overall price in recent years. Game Pass Ultimate was originally priced at $14.99 per month, but was raised to $16.99 in June 2023, alongside price increases for Xbox consoles.
