Charity speedrunning event Summer Games Done Quick 2024 raises over $2.5 million
Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ), an annual speedrunning event, has raised over $2.5 million for Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières), bringing the organizer’s lifetime total to $51.6 million.

SGDQ 2024 took place from June 30 to July 6, with a 24-hour livestream hosted on the organizer's Twitch channel and an in-person event held in Minnesota. Throughout the week-long event, viewers donated a total of $2,548,600, with speedrunners offering incentives such as making the game more difficult, naming characters, and performing easter eggs.
With the conclusion of this year's SGDQ, GDQ has raised a total of $51,653,402 for various charities, including Doctors Without Borders, the AbleGamers Foundation, the Prevent Cancer Foundation, the Organization for Autism Research, and The Trevor Project. This figure also includes Awesome Games Done Quick, which is typically held at the start of the year, as well as special marathons such as the all-female "Flame Fatales" event, which will take place again next month.
SGDQ 2024's highlights include speedruns of Elden Ring and its expansion, Halo 3, Old-School RuneScape, and a blindfolded run of a randomized Super Mario 64. Peanut Butter, the speedrunning Shiba Inu, returned with owner JSR_ after completing Gyromite at AGDQ 2024, this time playing SNES title Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball.
