Unity announces former Zynga and EA executive Matthew Bromberg as its new CEO
Unity has appointed former EA mobile executive and Zynga chief operating officer Matthew Bromberg as its new CEO following the departure of John Riccitiello last year.
The details:
Bromberg will become the company's CEO from May 15, replacing current interim CEO Jim Whitehurst, who is now the executive chair of Unity's board. "I am thrilled to join Unity as it embraces its next chapter," said Bromberg. "I look forward to working with Jim, the board, and the incredible people of Unity to provide the best integrated platform for creators to bring great games and experiences to their audiences globally while also helping accelerate the company's revenue growth and profitability."
Bromberg was BioWare's group general manager before moving on to EA Mobile as SVP of strategy and operations for four years until his departure in 2016. He then served as the chief operating officer at mobile publisher Zynga until April 2022.
Riccitiello left Unity just weeks after the company came under fire for announcing plans to charge developers for each install of games using its engine. Just months after the situation in January, the company announced mass layoffs, resulting in 25% of its workforce being let go.
