Fortnite is returning to iPads this year, but only in the EU
Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite will be available on iPads sometime this year after being removed from the App Store in 2020, but only in European Union countries.
The details:
Epic confirmed the game's reintroduction to Apple tablets in a new post to X, adding that the Epic Games Store and Fortnite will also be available on iPhone "soon." This announcement follows the EU's recent ruling that Apple's mobile devices must comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) by allowing third-party apps to be installed.
In January, the company announced that the battle royale would be available in EU territories as part of the mobile Epic Games Store's launch. Epic stated that mobile developers will have the same 88/12 revenue split as the main PC store, and that they will receive 100% of all in-game payments processed through the developer's own system.
After a lengthy legal battle, Epic accused Apple of violating the DMA by suspending its developer account in March, with Apple claiming it had the right to terminate the account based on Epic's "past and ongoing behavior." The decision prompted an EU investigation, with the union requesting "further explanations" from the tech giant.
