Ubisoft has laid off over 100 more employees
Ubisoft has confirmed that over 100 more of its employees have been let go, primarily at its Canadian studios.
The details:
The publisher has announced the cutting of 124 positions in its Canadian studios' IT and administrative teams, with the reductions mainly impacting its Montreal-based VFX studio, Hybride, and its global team. Ubisoft has also confirmed that the layoffs have not directly affected its production teams.
In a statement to Kotaku, Ubisoft also confirmed that those affected would be supported following their departure, with severance pay, career assistance, and unspecified additional benefits.
Ubisoft has laid off over 1,000 employees since the start of its cost-cutting program in September 2022, including around 60 customer support staff in the UK and US, as well as the closure of Ubisoft London. The program was put in place to compensate for project cancellations and delays over the last decade, such as Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Skull and Bones, which has recently been delayed again.
