After years of PC exclusivity on the Epic Games Store, Activision has announced that its beloved remakes of the first two titles in Tony Hawk's skateboarding series will finally make their way to Steam.
The details:
- Activision confirmed in a new post on the series' official X account that the well-received remake is now available to wishlist on Steam, with an October 3 release date. The game was originally released in September 2020, but its PC port was made exclusive to Epic Games' storefront, causing many people to overlook the excellent skateboarding game.
- Following its release, THPS 1 + 2 received high praise from both critics and fans for retaining the feel of the original two classics while giving it a complete visual overhaul as well as adding tricks found in later titles such as reverts, transfers, and wallplants to improve game flow. Purists who want to keep the bare-bones gameplay can still do so by setting the control schemes to THPS 1 or 2.
- Despite receiving positive reviews and becoming the fastest Tony Hawk skateboarding game to sell one million units, the man himself claimed that Activision scrapped a remake of the third and fourth games after merging developer Vicarious Visions with Blizzard in 2022.
More gaming news:
- Capcom's COO has stated that he believes players should pay more for games to offset rising development costs. The executive claims that creating games is "100 times more costly," but prices for AAA titles have only increased slightly in comparison.
- Red Dead Redemption 2 has been rated for the Nintendo Switch in Brazil, leaving fans to speculate whether the title will be released alongside the port of its predecessor on the aging system. Some are also wondering if the game will run on the system, suggesting that a cloud version may be in the works.
