Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics has announced another wave of layoffs, marking the fourth time in a year the studio has reduced its workforce while continuing work on upcoming series entries Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst.

The details:

  • In a statement shared on LinkedIn, Crystal Dynamics confirmed it is cutting 20 roles split between development staff and central operations, calling it a “difficult” decision made in the wake of restructuring carried out last year.
  • The studio said the reductions follow a review of team structures as current projects move into new phases of development, and pledged severance and job-placement support for affected staff while asking other companies to get in touch with openings for displaced developers. "While we always strive to transition people into new roles whenever possible, we have unfortunately reached a point where these departures are necessary," it wrote.
  • This latest move follows multiple earlier rounds of layoffs in March, August, and November 2025, including 17 redundancies in March and nearly 30 in November as part of broader reorganisation efforts across various departments and projects.
