Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that the future of the Tomb Raider franchise will be revealed at The Game Awards on Thursday.

The details:

  • The Game Awards host and creator Geoff Keighley confirmed the franchise’s appearance at the show in a post to X. The event is set to take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on all major platforms, with various major publishers attending.
  • While not directly confirmed, the wording of the post suggests that several new projects will be revealed at the show, including what could be the next major game in the franchise. The studio announced back in April 2022 that it had "just started" developing the next Tomb Raider game and that it would make use of Unreal Engine 5, with the project not impacted by recent job cuts.
  • There is also a possibility that the announcement could be related to Amazon’s upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series, which was confirmed to still be in the works recently, and will follow the lore of the games. Not much else is known as of yet, but the show is being developed by screenwriter and actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
