Frontier Developments has confirmed that the sequel to 2016's Planet Coaster will arrive in autumn 2024, with several new features and enhancements.

The details:

  • After teasing an announcement on its Twitch channel for the past week, Frontier has finally released a trailer for Planet Coaster 2. The title will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in autumn, with a full gameplay reveal scheduled for July 31.

  • One of the most significant changes is the addition of water attractions, which allow players to construct flumes, lazy rivers, wave pools, and water coasters. Lifeguards, sunbeds, and changing rooms will also be required for those who choose to build a water park.

  • The game also includes building and pathing tool improvements, allowing players to create more unique roller coasters with individual pieces. An improved event sequencer tool will let players combine animatronics, smoke, water jets, sound, and more to create displays for rides and the rest of the park.

  • Planet Coaster 2 has three modes: Career mode, which focuses on specific scenarios, Franchise mode, which allows players to build a chain of parks, and the free-build Sandbox mode. Online elements are also available, allowing players to visit each other's parks, build in a shared Sandbox level, and share and download parks and blueprints through the Frontier Workshop.
