Bethesda has announced that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was played by over four million players in the first four days since its surprise release last week, shattering the Elder Scrolls Steam record.
The details:
- In a post on X, Bethesda thanked players for their support, writing: "We are so grateful to the over 4 million of you that have already ventured into Cyrodiil with Oblivion Remastered." Xboxโs official account responded: "Thatโs a lot of cheese wheels in pockets. Huge congrats."
- Oblivion Remastered was announced and released simultaneously for PC, consoles, and Xbox Game Pass. According to SteamDB, the game has reached a peak of more than 216,000 concurrent players, making it the most played Elder Scrolls title on Steam to date.
- The remaster includes a complete graphical overhaul, updated audio, and refined gameplay mechanics. Developer Virtuos, which handled the project, said every asset was recreated from scratch, and that lip syncing has been reanimated using the original performance capture data.
Previous Oblivion news:
- Bethesda and Virtuos have revealed and shadow-dropped their Unreal Engine 5-powered remaster of 2006โs The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion after several leaks earlier this month.
- The team behind Skyblivion has revealed that Bethesda gave them keys to the official Oblivion remaster and will not take any action against the mod.
