Starfield's Shattered Space expansion is arriving this fall, and console mod support is still on the way
Bethesda has announced that Shattered Space, Starfield's story expansion, will be released in fall 2024, with Todd Howard confirming that console mod support is still in the works.
The details:
In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Howard revealed the new release window for the DLC, which will be the game's first expansion and include "new story content, new locations, new gear, and much more." “Shattered Space is in the fall, but we have a big update that’s coming really soon for Starfield,” Howard said. “There’s a lot of stuff… we redid the map stuff, so we have some city map stuff.”
Howard then confirmed that an update to Starfield will be announced "in a few days," followed by a Steam beta release that includes "some great stuff for shipbuilding." This is part of Bethesda's plan to update Starfield regularly with new content and other quality-of-life improvements, which was announced late last year.
The director has also reassured fans that console mod support is on the way and is still "really important" to the studio since its introduction in Fallout 4 in 2016. According to Howard, Starfield's Creation Kit, the game's official modding tools, has also been distributed to select modders, though no public release date has been announced.
