Modders have already added DLSS to Starfield

Due to Bethesda's partnership with AMD, the new RPG completely lacks support for Nvidia's DLSS and Intel's XeSS upscaling technologies, prompting fans to create a mod that replaces the game's FSR 2 setting.

The details:

• Just days after its release, PureDark, a modder, has already released a mod titled "Starfield Upscaler: Replacing FSR2 with DLSS or XeSS," which replaces the game's FSR2 option with either Nvidia's or Intel's upscaler for those with RTX or Arc graphics cards. The technology enables the game to render at 1080p and then upscale the image to 4K, producing a similar-quality image while using fewer resources and allowing for higher frame rates.
• The mod's performance is heavily dependent on the hardware in a user's system, with those with weaker CPUs likely to see very little performance gain, even if their GPUs are powerful cards like the RTX 4000 series.
• Following the announcement that AMD would be collaborating with Bethesda on the title, fans feared that the more popular and superior upscaling option would be absent. This prompted PureDark to start working on the mod ahead of schedule, drawing on their previous experience implementing DLSS into AAA titles such as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. After the game's pre-loading began in the middle of August, those previous concerns were reinforced by the lack of mention of the technology within the game's files.
