Following previous reports that a remake of Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion would be released soon, insiders say it will most likely arrive this month, with changes being made to the original game's Steam store page.

The details:

  • Back in 2023, it was reported and later confirmed that an Oblivion remake was in the works as of 2020. Last month, reputable insider NateTheHate claimed that the game would be revealed soon, with a shadow drop expected before June and possibly as early as April.

  • Over the last few days, several insiders have suggested that the game could be released at any time. One of the sources is Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb, who stated on the latest installment of POWER BLOCK that Oblivion is "very likely going to drop here pretty soon," confirming that he, too, has heard it will be shadow dropped later this month.

  • Despite an initial slip in the release window, insider Detective Seeds claims that Microsoft plans to release the remake during the week of April 21, after The Elder Scrolls Online's ongoing anniversary event concludes.

  • It was reported earlier this year that the remake would change a number of Oblivion's original mechanics in order to make the game more accessible to a modern audience. This includes complete overhauls of the blocking, stealth, and stamina systems, as well as a new, cleaner HUD and improved hit reaction times. The game is also being developed in Unreal Engine 5, which offers significant visual and technical improvements over the original game's notoriously dated and unstable Gamebryo engine.
