Rob Wiethoff, the actor behind Red Dead Redemption’s John Marston, has teased that “exciting news” is on the way, prompting speculation from fans that Red Dead Redemption 2 could be receiving a next-generation port.

The details:

  • In a recent livestream (via u/F4D3broboi on Reddit), Wiethoff stated that "exciting news" would be shared soon, and while he did not provide any details, he hinted that it was directly related to RDR. "I've got such exciting news," he teased. "I can't share it with you right now, and it's absolutely killing me. By the end of this week, hopefully sooner, you're going to—not this week, I guess; probably not as soon as tomorrow, but definitely before Friday…” he said while playing Red Dead Redemption. “...I can't wait for you to know. I am so excited, but I truly cannot think about anything else, especially playing this game. I can't think of anything else.”

  • Last week, it was claimed by reputable leaker NateTheHate that Rockstar was gearing up to release a port of RDR2 to the recently released Nintendo Switch 2. It’s also said that the game will be receiving a long-awaited update for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, providing improved performance and visuals compared to the original last-generation version of the game.

  • Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also indicated that some big reveals could be on the horizon in a recent interview with The Game Business. The executive stated that the company plans to support the Switch 2 more than any other Nintendo system prior, with major releases such as Borderlands 4 already confirmed for the platform.
